NYC heightens to intensity 10
5 April 2007
Members of the Kapisanan ng mga Kabataan Tungo sa Kasakdalan (KKTK), an organization of the youth members of the Church of God International, gathers on April 5 and 6 for the annual National Youth Convention (NYC) in Apalit, Pampanga.
This year’s theme is KABATA-ANTS, inspired by the Biblical citations in Proverbs 6:6 and Proverbs 30:25 which states “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise” and “The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer.”
The idea conveyed is being like ants which are able to climb walls carrying weights ten times its weight while trying to avoid mishaps along the way. Youths always have to think of ways or means of continuing their service to God, despite the odds.
Now on its 10th year, the NYC has lined-up activities which aim for the edification of the youth and promote unity, camaraderie, and teamwork, without losing the elements of fun and excitement.
Around 10,000 local delegates, including Church workers from various divisions, are expected to attend and participate in the different sports activities and workshops.
A free concert featuring SugarFree, one of the country’s hottest bands, and Church performers like Hammilan, highlights the evening’s activities during the first day.
The second day focuses more on the spiritual aspects concerning the youth. Questions and matters of faith will be answered on the much-awaited consultation with Bro. Eli Soriano.
Members abroad will also be given the chance to consult their problems through web conferencing.
Prior the NYC, a convention of KKTK Officers was conducted on April 4, where duties of officers have been discussed. The registration started April 2 at the ADD Convention Center lobby.
On April 7, an international thanksgiving to God briefly follows the National Youth Convention, coinciding with Bro. Eli’s 43rd year in God’s service.
