What’s important to a Christian Youth?
The way of the world has a very sweet offer to people and very conventional imposition to people about how life should be lived.
Getting a college degree and having one’s own family seem to be the path to be walked, and when you get these two would complete it all in man’s life as if you’ve finished your journey. You are luckier if aside from these things, you are an achiever, a successful professional and could still juggle busy life with leisure. All roads in the world seem to lead to having a family, growing old, enjoying retirement pay and so on. In most cases, people cling to the cycle, not wanting to get out and just go with the flow of the world.
But Christians are of a different kind. We perceive future differently because we have the hint of what the real future holds. Christian youth are mindful of the future because we are properly guided by the Scriptures, helping us make the right choices. We don’t just go on with the trend. We know there’s more to life than racing for time to earn a satisfying and fulfilling life to live in this world.
We may not be able to experience what busies and preoccupies other young people’s lives such as going out, hanging out and getting thrills.
Fortunately for us, we know what true happiness means and where true happiness lies. We are fully aware that there’s something we should always consider first, which more than half of the world seem to forget—that, despite all the seemingly important things around us, one stands above all – God.
Our priorities second only to God and the Church are our family, friends, relatives, career and our self.
